FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW IS PLANT FOOD PDX DIFFERENT FROM OTHER CHEF SERVICES?

What sets Plant Food Pdx apart from other chef services is that our ingredients are always 100% free from preservatives and other additives. We've noticed many other "healthy" chef services will use ingredients that can potentially cause undesirable reactions- think headaches, bloating, etc from ingredients such as nutritional yeast, soy sauce, and chemically-derived citric acid (which is made from aspergillus, the mold!). These ingredients can be damaging to the delicate gut lining and create inflammation, both knowingly and sometimes unknowingly. That's why Plant Food Pdx offers truly clean meals, made from fresh, whole-food ingredients!

HOW ALLERGY-FRIENDLY IS YOUR FOOD?

Although we can't cover every allergy or sensitivity, our goal is to offer delicious food that is free from the most common allergens and inflammatory-producing ingredients. We never use gluten, dairy, soy or refined-sugar. We steer clear of ingredients that are high in unbound glutamate such as MSG, and won't use any ingredients that are ultra-processed or contain additives. We do use nuts and coconuts however, so if you are allergic or have a sensitivity here, our service would not be for you. Additionally, although we do not ever use gluten, if you have celiac disease our service would not be for you.

DO YOUR DISHES EVER INCLUDE MEAT, FISH, POULTRY OR EGGS?

Nope, never.

ARE THE MEALS ALL VEGAN?

We do occasionally use honey, but besides that all meals, snacks and desserts are indeed vegan.

DO YOU OFFER CONTACTLESS DELIVERY?

We do! For apartments we will deliver to the lobby (not apartment door), and for all drop-off's we'll send a text so you know it's there. Once your food has arrived and it's out of our hands, we don't offer refunds or replacements.

WHERE DO YOU DELIVER?

We deliver within the Portland metro area. If you are outside of this area and are interested in our services, send us an email an we may be able to arrange a pick-up, or deliver for an additional fee, depending on where you are located.

WHERE DO I FIND MACROS OR CALORIES FOR YOUR MEALS AND DESSERTS?

Although we understand this type of tracking can be helpful for certain health reasons, it is not something we currently offer. We prefer to focus on whole foods and diversity over numbers, though you can be sure our meals and snacks are nearly always low-glycemic. Feel free to email if you have a specific health diagnosis where tracking is necessary and we'll answer as best we can.
